We drove to Modena with a mission for F to see the Ferrari and Maserati museums. See separate blog posts under the Museums category if you are interested. https://www.classiccarwife.com/post/the-umberto-panini-motor-museum and https://www.classiccarwife.com/post/the-museo-ferrari-maranello-the-enzo-ferrari-museums-in-modena-maranello
We stayed at the Best Western Premier Milano Palace Hotel which was walking distance to the Enzo Ferrari Museum https://www.milanopalacehotel.it They had valet parking for MoneyPenny at a cost of 13 euros per night. The room was basic but comfortable. A reasonable place to stop if you are in town.
Unfortunately, Modena was CLOSED! It might have been a little about the Assumption of Mary but mainly about closing down for holidays for a whole month. It was a ghost town. No-one in the streets, shops shuttered closed and only the churches (and car museums) open.
We didn't see Modena in it's best. Will we return? ... unlikely.
